1.

Vicarious
Dir. Dave Ardito
Germany | 16 mins
Logline:
Vicarious tells the story of the daydreaming office worker Jake Thompson. To escape from his boring reality, he reads exciting books and imagines himself as an action hero who saves the world. But sooner or later this does not fulfill him anymore. In search of a new way to feel alive again, he finds a new source of inspiration which forces him to a life-changing decision.

2.

THEM
Dir. Robin Lochmann
Germany | 15 mins
Logline: In a forgotten village, where everyone is cut from the same cloth, a new, self-proclaimed leader arrives changing the local way of life. Dividing lines are carved out as the once unified society is torn and segregated. THEM is a cautionary tale of misguided ideologies, destructive leadership and of being an outsider. But most importantly, it is a film about celebrating what we have in common rather than what separates us.

3.

Three Short Tales of Forgiveness
Dir. Omar Shoukri
Germany | 12 mins
Logline: Three Short Tales of Forgiveness is set on the streets of a Middle East city, in a car barreling down a desert highway, and tucked into the womb of an overstuffed chair. As the characters seek forgiveness and try to come to terms with their shame, their stories reflect the complexity of a virtue that lies at the very heart of compassion.

4.

Building Bridges
Dir. Johannes Olszewski
Germany | 5 mins
Logline: High above the sacred Navajo land of Monument Valley, two hot air balloons float, circling each other as if in a dance. One carries the German flag, the other that of the United States. A closer look reveals that the balloons are not only tethered together, but that a person is walking on this thin, connecting line.

5.

The Obvious Seems Oblivious Too
Dirs. Sebastian Kortmann, Raphael Schumacher
Germany | 9 mins
Logline: "The Obvious Seems Oblivious Too” is a short with Serious Klein. It deals with the conflict between topics such as music, money and his past. Which experiences change our future and therefore the way the artist’s performance? The songs subtly deal with these aspects among others. The cinematic examination and execution allows the audience a metaphorical insight into the life of Serious Klein. Making a mockery of life with your money making motivation. You’ve got it all, you think. Money, hoes and clothes, you think of day in and day out. No way you want to get out. Which way to take to get out? Life or death. You decide."

After each film there will be a minute-long break, during which we invite the audience to complete scorecards. The cards go towards the scoring of the films and are sent directly to the filmmakers to provide insight into the audience's response.
