Rabbits

A film by Alex Alexandrou

How Rabbits came to Lift-Off

Rabbits first screened with Lift-Off at our First-Time Filmmakers Showcase at our home, Pinewood Studios. The Lift-Off team and other attendees were extremely impressed with this directorial debut from Alex Alexandrou, which saw Rabbits pick up a further screening at London Lift-Off Film Festival. Following the festival Rabbits received a Season Award Nomination. Fast forward six months, and Rabbits was announced as the Best First-Time Film of 2018.

We are taking Alex’s short to seek sale agent representation/potential distribution opportunities. Alex’s main goal is to make connections and build relationships with these industry professionals, not only for Rabbits, but for all of his future projects.

About the Director

Alex is a London based Writer/Director working in both Film and TV. He cites David Lynch, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Terry Gilliam as influences on his work and style.
For the past four years Alex has worked predominantly on True Crime Documentary formats. These formats have seen him interview convicts on
America’s death row, members of the CIA and the FBI. It is a career path that has influenced his work in many ways and tinted the stories he produces.
In 2017 however, he decided to take a chance on making his own work and started to make the move from TV to Film. “Rabbits” was the result of this decision and after gaining funding from the Film London’s “Southern Exposure” scheme he and his Brother/Producer James Alexandrou set about creating this post-apocalyptic phycological thriller.
Since this time “Rabbits” has gone on to be screened at The East End Film Festival, The Sci-Fi London festival, the Edinburgh Independent Film Awards, The Lift-off London and Lift-Off Berlin Festivals as well as The 2018 Lift-Off Season Awards. It was at The Edinburgh Independent Film Awards that “Rabbits” won for Best Short and at The 2018 Lift-Off Season Awards where it won the First Time Filmmaker Award.
Alex is currently in the funding phase of his second short which he looks to make later this year.
