Liverpool Lift-Off Film Festival 2015 and Think Cinema collaborate to bring an evening of European shorts.

Hooked by Jane Gannon

Hooked was shot in one day at Leasowe shore, Wirral. Merseyside in May 2011. It is Harry Danns’ personal story of his recovery from long term heroin addiction and his passion for fishing. This film offers a short and powerful true life moment – an epiphany – for Harry when he realizes he is able to appreciate a moment free from the misery off addiction.

CONCRETE / NIGHT by Noe Weil

Simon, a drug dealer, is kidnapped by his supplier. Under a psychological torture, he ends up admitting why he is late with his payment: the story behind seems to be even more intense and personal…

The Guest by Federico Olivetti

After the father’s death, a man gets on a train and stops in a country town. Takes a room in a boarding house run by a mother and her daughter, a fifteen-year-old girl. A dark tale of seduction and coercion ensues.

Tickle the Ivories is a documentary focusing on the street piano busking festival of the same name which takes place in Liverpool One and is organised by Open Culture, that asks why are we so profoundly moved by music?

Delicacy by Helen Curran

“Delicacy” is a psychological horror set during the British retreat to Dunkirk, WWII. Severely injured Sergeant Thompson finds himself at the mercy of inexperienced Private Barnes. Trapped with no resources, both must survive until Barnes can dig them out.
