ALZHAÏMOUR

Belgium | 15 minutes
Louise, aged 68, is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and lives in a nursing home. Her daily life is riddled with sadness because her son Daniel is no longer visiting her, discouraged by his mother's memory lapses. The arrival of a new patient in the home (Leo, 82), who is also suffering from Alzheimer's disease, will upset Louise's life ... but also that of Daniel!

Breathing Through a Straw

When a hookup ends in homicide, Parker decides to confront the man who abused him as a child. Inspired by a true story, Breathing Through a Straw is a short film that explores the consequences of secrets. The film is written and directed by queer Canadian theatre director Leigh Rivenbark. This is his debut film.

Fundamental

This is the story of a teenager who discovers the strange and terrifying reality behind fundamentalism. Warped into an ultra-religious environment from a young age, his surroundings force him to adhere to a rigid and sometimes irrational world-view. He eventually succumbs to the madness, and lives consumed by guilt while devouring every crumb of false hope thrown at him from his religious community. One day he gathers the courage to leave his faith behind and sees that human existence is actually a more nuanced experience than the black and white reality in which he grew up in.

Between the Sand

Artist Jean-Paul Bourdier travels into covert desert locations to infuse the nude body, bold color, and stark landscapes producing a surreal visual effect. In doing so, Bourdier transcends traditional narrative to discover something more real and true about the nature of who we are.

The Virginmarys | Motherless Land
Dir. Kyle Cogan
USA | 4 minutes
Motherless Land' is about getting away from it all and deciding to live off the grid. The video peers into the fascinating American teenage subculture of train hoppers. It's a defiant, romantic, crust-punk love story of two young drifters as they search for their next meal and adventure across the country while enduring the challenges of life on the road.

Bad Sheriff

A killer comes into a bar... What sounds like a joke isn't funny at all for an ex-police alumni turned vigilante-killer who planned to pick up his girl and then leave town forever.

Second Tier City
Dir. Matthew Moroz and Xia Han
Canada, China | 9 mins
Everyone is familiar with term ‘Made In China’, and everyone knows many of the products throughout their house are from China but we rarely get to see where these products come from or hear from the people involved.


After each film there will be a 2 minute break, during which we invite the audience to complete score cards. The cards go towards the scoring of the films and are sent directly to the filmmakers to provide insight into the audiences response.
