The Botanist
Dir. Maude Plante-Husaruk & Maxime Lacoste-Lebuis
Canada, Tajikistan | 2016 | 20mins | Language: Kyrgyz, Russian with English subtitles
After the fall of the Soviet Union, Tajikistan, a former Social Soviet Republic, plunged into a devastating civil war. A famine struck the mountainous region of the Pamir where Raimberdi, a passionate and ingenious botanist, built his own hydroelectric station to help his family survive through the crisis.

Short 2.

Happy Tuesday
Dir. Wouter van Couwelaar
Netherlands | 2016 | 19mins | Language: Dutch with English subtitles
This short independent film by Dutch director Wouter van Couwelaar shows a certain self-indulgent generation. ‘I want to travel so I borrow money and go – I want sex so I Tinder – I want to feel happy so I do drugs’; the belief that life is changeable within a minute. ‘Happy Tuesday’ is a funny, confronting and staggering portrait of four young women who lose themselves in drugs for different reasons. And they don’t have a problem with that at all.

Feature.

Northern Lights
Dir. Nicholas Connor
UK | 2016 | 53mins | Language: English
Emma approaches adulthood, she tries to live an ordinary life and keep up to her late mothers expectations. However her anxiety weighs over her, stopping her from enjoying the last few youthful years.

After each film there will be a 2 minute break, during which we invite the audience to complete score cards. The cards go towards the scoring of the films and are sent directly to the filmmakers to provide insight into the audiences response.
